ULI Urban Start in Frankfurt

ULI Urban Start Frankfurt // Grandhotel Hessischer Hof

Last week, I attended an event organized by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Frankfurt. The event took place in cooperation with Peakside Capital at the traditional Hotel Hessischer Hof. Peakside Capital acquired the property from the Prinz von Hessen Group at the end of 2022.

ULI members and interested participants came together to discuss the future of urban development in Frankfurt. Under the title "Future urban development - rethinking Frankfurt!", the evening offered exciting insights into current urban development and encouraged bold visions. The event was characterized by a lively panel discussion with experts from various areas of urban development who shared their perspectives and innovative approaches. Particular emphasis was placed on the "Mainkai" project, which served as an example of redesigning urban spaces and stimulated the discourse on the necessity and possibilities of sustainable and citizen-oriented urban development.

The event was a platform for professional exchange and an opportunity to strengthen the network and make new contacts.

The evening ended with a get-together where discussions continued in an informal setting. Some participants then met up in the legendary "Jimmy's Bar" with a live pianist located in the basement of the hotel Hessischer Hof. According to bar manager Thomas Lang, who manages the bar on an interim basis for the Gekko Group, it will remain open until May 2024. The Indian hotel group Taj Hotels will reopen the grand hotel in 2025 after extensive refurbishment.

Many thanks to ULI, Peakside and all participants for exciting discussions and an interesting exchange.
