Dr. Ralf-Norbert Bartelt, a Member of the Hessian Parliament from Frankfurt, and Telehouse Germany Managing Director Dr. Béla Waldhauser invited to a tour of the Telehouse data center in Frankfurt last week.
Regardless of which party you belong to, the tour was highly interesting from a real estate perspective. The data center operator Telehouse, the project developer Instone, and the city of Frankfurt are doing pioneering work on the future heat supply for the new "Franky" district.
The 1,300 new apartments for around 3,000 residents will be largely supplied with energy from the waste heat of the server farms of the neighboring Telehouse data center. This is unique in Germany on this scale. This type of heat supply will not only be climate-friendly but will also be around 20 to 30% cheaper for the residents than similar apartments.
Instone sold the property in 2019 to a special real estate fund of the Bayerische Versorgungskammer (BVK) launched by Universal Investment as an investor. Aam2core is accompanying the project development and will take over the asset management after completion of the project.
