Oenology Urban Land Institute Frankfurt

As one of the most active networks within the real estate industry, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) also holds events for members during the summer vacation period. This week, the American colleagues from CBRE and the developer Landmarken jointly hosted a wine tasting at Commerz Real's Omniturm in Frankfurt. Toni Ser from Brand Berger shared his wine knowledge with us. In a relaxed atmosphere, the participants got to know each other better above the rooftops of Frankfurt and deepened their networks.

Frederike Krinn from Landmarken AG hosted the evening as ULI Germany Next Chair.

The takeaway for me is that wine investments have some similarities to real estate investments, such as

- Long-term investment horizon

- Tangible asset with long-term value growth

- Diversification of the portfolio possible through different wineries, regions, and vintages

- The value can be maintained or increased through active management, such as optimal storage conditions (temperature, humidity, light protection)

- Similar to real estate, the purchase of investment wine requires a thorough analysis or due diligence, including an assessment of the vintage, the vineyard, and the storage potential

- There is also a speculation period for wine, but only one year

Overall, it was another lively ULI event with lots of fun—many thanks to the organizers.

I also want to thank Andreas Grießinger (Branch Manager Frankfurt Berlin Hyp) and Eva-Maria Ullrich (Consultant Brand Berger) for the spontaneous photos.
