Immotalk in Frankfurt's FAZ Tower - 75 years of FAZ

At the Immotalk event series, I had the opportunity to gain a personal impression of the newly built FAZ Tower and to exchange views with FAZ Managing Director Volker Breid. The office tower is home to the editorial office and publishing house of the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). I was familiar with the previous FAZ headquarters in Gallus through Michael Psotta, the former editor in charge of the real estate section of the FAZ for many years. For this reason, I found the Immotalk location particularly interesting.

Architecturally, the office tower is a real landmark in the Europe District with its two slender slabs, which are turned off axis in the shape of a double H and shifted against each other. At around 60 meters high, it is a high point that forms the entrance to the Europe District right next to the trade fair. Eike Becker Architekten designed the property. The development was mainly carried out by UBM. The current owner is HanseMerkur. Momeni is responsible for the real estate management.

My congratulations to the FAZ on its 75th anniversary and the new impressive headquarters, which has successful architecture and is an absolute enrichment in the Europe District.

At the Immotalk, initiator Thomas Reimann, CEO of ALEA Hoch- und Industriebau AG and President of the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs in Hesse, once again organized an exciting event as usual:

Lecture: 75 years of FAZ

Volker Breid (FAZ Managing Director)

Panel: Dealing with extreme weather events and the development of our inner cities

Dr. Christine Lemaitre (DGNB)

Claus Kaminsky (Lord Mayor of Hanau)

Thomas Ranft (Hessischer Rundfunk / ARD)

Dr. Klaus Endres (R+V Insurance)

Oliver Cyrus (Cyrus Architects)

Greeting

Kaweh Mansoori (Hessian Minister of Economics)

Moderation: Astrid Fronja (N-TV)

Briefly summarized:

Due to the difficulties in new construction, politicians are called upon to improve the framework conditions, for example, by lowering the land transfer tax, providing reliable subsidy conditions, lowering building standards, or speeding up building law. The increase in extreme weather events will cause insurance premiums to rise. It is not advisable to build directly on the water. Compulsory insurance should be rejected due to the high level of bureaucracy involved.
